Crêpe Satin 12.5

An especially manifold material with two views: in the front the well-known, nicely shining satin look with a glassy surface. The back on the other hand, shimmers matt, similar to Crêpe de Chine. The history of Crêpe Satin is very interesting: it was created as a matt silk crêpe that was supposed to have a smooth surface like lining on the reverse side. Later, the gloss was decided to be more important and the crêpe satin was "turned around". The crêpe satin 12.5 falls softly, is inured to wrinkling and reflects all colors in a bright and luscious way. Its smooth surface almost invites one to painting, dying and printing. With its medium fabric weight, it is perfect for light blouses, tunics and other tops. Shawls, scarves, stoles and pareos are especially beautiful when made out of this fabric.

This expressive motif was created by boldly painting roses onto white stretched silk, using transparent Gutta. The background was painted in black and the single roses were shaded in yellow/red.
