The slightly matt chiffon silk has a structure with very fine, smoothly swung pleats lengthwise. This tender bark effect, which is characteristic for crinkle chiffon, enlarges the volume of the fabric. The fabric has established itself in the ladies' fashion for very light, transparent summery clothing like blouses and tunics as well as for scarves in every size. Crinkle chiffon is also ideal for noble, delicate curtains that let in a lot of light (not for windows facing south!) and for decoration purposes like romantic bed canopies, for example. Crinkle chiffon can be decorated with all known dye and silk painting techniques, as well as fabric printing and stencil painting. Interesting effects are reached during nuno felting: with thin felt layers, the fine bark structure of the crinkle chiffon is transferred very decoratively onto the felt fabric.
Please note: The over-twisted weaving yarn swells during washing and dyeing, thus the fabric has a relatively high residual shrinkage value.

An elaborate Nuno felt scarf out of black FLYFEL®-web and felted on stripes out of Chiffon and Pongee in cool shades of blue. It looks complicated but with the help of a couple small tricks it is easy to create.
