This batiste has an especially high amount of high quality, soft cotton. The yarns have specifically few T.P.M. (turns per meter), that means that they have only been turned a little. Through that the fabric seems to be like a georgette fabric, even though it was created with smooth yarns. Additionally, the full webbing of the cotton threads gives it a light woolen look and an accordingly comfortable grip. Very well suitable for color gradients, 2 color dye techniques and painting with silk or fabric paint. A steam fixation is possible without any problems. Through the high amount of lycra weftwise, the batiste can be used for many purposes. It is easy to work with and low-maintenance because barely wrinkles.

For this expressive motif, bold twirls were painted on the stretched Silk, by using transparent Gutta. The background was painted in plain black and the single leaves and flowers were water-colored in harmonic colors.

An example for the 2-color-dyeing technique. On the left side, the silk was dyed in yellow and the cotton in red. The result is a discreet orange shimmering shot fabric. On the right side, the Batiste was simmered in blue silk paint. Through that a fine blue/white, slightly metallic shimmering look is created. The elasticity of this Bastite makes it a perfect base material for summery light blouses and shirts.
For this model, yellow-red poppies were painted onto the stretched Batiste. After the paint has dried, the outlines and background were colored in black. Silk paint does not flow too much on this cotton/silk blend and therefore a lining paint is not necessary. A hair dryer helps a lot when it comes to bordering the (black) paint. After fixing and thorough rinsing, the shirt was cut and sewn.
