Scarf

Pongé 05 is by far the most popular silk for silk painting. Almost all painting techniques can successfully be used on this fine shiny plain weave silk.
We offer you a wide variety of different shawl and scarf sizes made out of this simple and inexpensive beginner quality.
Apart from the Chiffon 3.5, Pongé 05 can most easily be turned into soft Nuno-felt when using FLYFEL^®- products.

Design example.
This scarf was dip-dyed in a pot with steam fixable silk colour.

An impressive Nuno-Felt scarf, that is pretty simple to make yourself:
Cut a piece of black FLYFEL^®-web in the same width of a silk scarf and lay on top of the spread out scarf. Let the fleece overlap on both ends at double of the length of the fringes. Carefully cut a couple of lengthy holes into the fleece and cover the woolen surface with mullberry silk slivers. After the first felting, turn the scarf over and fold the overlapping fringes by half, for a clean back and especially stable fringes. These are created through simply cutting them into shape using a scissor after the felting and drying has been completed. 
If some more color should come into play, the Nuno-Felt scarf can later be painted or dyed.

An example for a simple Shibori-technique.
For this, the scarf is folded until a small square package is left. This is locked between two pieces of wood and secured with the help of a bar clamp and then simmered for a couple of minutes in black silk paint.
This simple pattern appears very elegant on the shimmering Pongé-silk!
