An especially versatile material with two looks: the front has the famous, beautifully shinning satin look with a surface as smooth as glass. The back on the other hand, shimmers flat, similar to Crêpe de Chine. The history of Crêpe Satin is especially interesting: it was created as a matt silk crêpe, which was supposed to have a smooth surface on its left side, just like lining fabric. Later the shine was decided to be more important and the Crêpe Satin was "turned around". The Crêpe de Satin 12.5 falls softly, is crinkle resistant and reflects all colors in a shining and full way. Its smooth surface is perfect for dyeing, painting and printing. Its medium weight makes it perfect for light blouses, tunics and other tops. Shawls, scarves, stoles and pareos are especially beautiful when made with this silk.
