Sliver of superfine mulberry silk, A1 quality! These extra fine silk fibers are perfect for felting into and onto FLYFEL
®-tops and FLYFEL
®-web. The woolen fibers wrap themselves around the silk threads during felting and through that, hold onto them.
Important to know: Silk does not felt on silk. You always need at least a super fine layer of wool.

®-sliver can be found

Painting with FLYFEL®.
This design example was created out of a piece of
FLYFEL®-melweb which was "painted", or rather felted with
FLYFEL®-tops and dyed mulberry rovings.
This technique is perfect for experimenting! For paintings, wall hangings, pillows,...
More information about this can be found in the
IDEEN.com-Journal.
This design example consists out of 2 layers of FLYFEL
®-web;
lime green and
black.
Both parts were cut into the same size and at different parts square
areas were cut out. Through these, just like through windows, the color
of the other side becomes visible. Additionally, in these areas
partially colored Pongee and dyed slivers were pushed between the layers
and also felted. Some finely pulled strands out of black
FLYFEL®-tops emphasize the square character of the pattern.
For this Nuno-Felt-Scarf, a piece of FLYFEL
®-web with cut out lengthwise stripes was felted onto a white Pongee scarf. A couple strands of white mulberry silk rovings were additionally felted onto the wool. Afterward, the scarf was dyed in a pot filled with slightly simmering purple silk paint, until the desired color intensity is reached. Pongee and silk fibers absorb the color equally.
