This is the lightest of the Georgette fabrics. Georgette 08 has a flat
silk shimmer and shows a typical moss-like look. It is half
transparent, falls very softly and shows - like all silk crępes - only
a slight tendency to wrinkle. That makes Georgette a preferred material
for silk scarves and shawls, as well as for blouses. Colors flow nicely
on Georgette and are reflected lusciously. All dyeing and silk painting
techniques can very well be used. This light crępe fabric is perfect
for Nuno-Felting because the super fine merino wool can penetrate the silk easily.

An example for using the
Gutta technique.
Out of transparent Gutta, bold twirls and roses were painted onto the stretched white shawl and the areas were later filled-in with silk paint.
Quick, simple and "painted" in the
microwave. This scarf was folded into an appr. 20x20cm sized square, moistened and painted in a microwaveable vessel filled with steam-fixable silk paint. Yellow and red for the inside and purple for the edges. Make sure that the colors penetrate all the way through to the bottom layer. The whole piece is fixed for 2-3 minutes on the medium setting.
An example for the luminance of the colors on Georgette, felted onto black
FLYFEL®-web.This Nuno-felt scarf also looks like the motif painted in the
Gutta technique,
has directly been printed on to the wool because the Georgette
disappears almost completely during felting and only the painting stays
visible.
