Long scarf

The fine weaving structure of Twill 10, with its diagonally appearing interlace creates a nice shine, a full grip and an elegant fall. This attractive silk is less transparent then most other fabrics of similar weight. Therefore colors appear especially intense on Twill. In France, Twill is known as Foulard silk and is used for the world famous printed shawls from Paris. Twill 10 barely wrinkles, shawls and scarves of this quality can easily be tied.

Here is an example for a tone on tone painting. The color was applied onto the damp side, using a large brush, similar to water coloring. More information can be found here in the IDEEN.com-Journal.

This scarf was dip-dyed in a pot with steam fixable silk colour.

This scarf was painted with the Gutta technique and after fixing wholly felted onto black FLYFEL^®-web. Overlapping fleece on both sides was cut into fringes after felting. More ideas for unique kinds of fringes can be found here.

Simple plain shade dyeings beautifully highlight the shimmer and the fine surface texture of the twill.
Here dyeing was done with fresh green hulls of the indigenous walnut tree. More info about this can be found in our IDEEN.com-Journal.
The walnut leaves were subsequently drawn on the fabric with iron-fixable silk colour.

This picture is the result of experiments in natural dyeing with walnut hulls and leaves.
The shades of brown always appear a little differently on the different silks and the merino wool, but they blend toghether wonderfully.
