The South American mulesing-free merino sheep's exquisite new wool is dyed in Germany, using
high quality dyes that meet the criteria of the Oeko-Tex®
Standard 100. In accordance with our specifications the wool is
subsequently needled into a very thin and very even fleece with the
very best felting properties.
In combination with the fine silk
qualities from IDEEN, feathery nuno-felt for soft scarves or individual
clothing can be created quickly and effortlessly.
Squares in different silk qualities, e.g. Pongé and Chiffon were felted onto black FLYFEL®-web and the edges were covered and framed in with narrow stripes of the same FLYFEL®-web.
This nuno-felt scarf is made from natural white
Georgette 08 scarf, which has been painted using the Gutta-technique and was subsequently felted on black
FLYFEL®-web
with its entire surface. Both layers quickly connect entirely and the
motif appears to be painted directly on the wool. The dark background lets the colours glow strongly.

For this impressive black/white Nuno-felt scarf, a piece of black FLYFEL
®-web with bold cut-out lengthwise stripes was felted on to a white
Pongee-Schal. Additional strands of white mulberry silk slivers were also felted on to the wool.
For this Nuno-felt scarf, a piece of black FLYFEL®-web with bold cut-out lengthwise stripes was felted on to a white Pongé scarf . Additional strands of white mulberry silk slivers were also felted on to the wool. Afterward, the scarf is dyed in a pot with turquoise colored silk dye, simmering until the desired color intensity is reached. Pongé and silk fibers absorb the color with the same intensity.
For this design example a squiggly pattern was cut out of black
FLYFEL®-web and felted on to red
FLYFEL®-web. The base is a black chiffon. The bold structures on the surface were emphasized with felted on black woolen yarns.
The
here described tie-dyed scarf was completely felted onto a black FLYFEL
®-web after the dyeing process was completed. Crêpe die Chine takes a little more effort when it comes to felting then e.g. loosely woven Chiffon but it is very much worth it. You should try felting with a sander.
This design example consists of dark red Pongé silk felted on black FLYFEL®-web. Before felting, the silk was folded in a traditional shibori technique and decolored.
